Frequently Asked Questions
At Cardphile, we keep these things simple: If you are not completely satisfied with your order, you may return it for a prompt refund.
We want you to love your products! If you’re not satisfied due to the quality of a product, a printing error on our part or damage during shipping, we will do whatever it takes to get replacements into your hands pronto – and, of course, at no cost to you.
When you personalize your greetings using our online editor and proofing system, we still do our best to watch your back and catch mistakes. (Yes, we have humans reviewing all orders during production!) Even if you’re responsible for the error, we’ll work together to find the best solution, and then do our best to fix the problem and get replacements to you as quickly and inexpensively as possible.
How long will it take to get my order?
Standard Stuff: Non-personalized cards ship 12 – 48 hours after we receive your order. Orders for customized cards and calendars generally leave our warehouse 7 – 10 business days after your order is placed.
Complicated Stuff: If you have urgent circumstances, we’ll do our best to accommodate you whenever possible – be sure to give us a call. (Please see note below.) Please allow a little extra time if you have particularly complex artwork, are requesting hard copy proofs (charges apply) or we are building a custom design for you requiring multiple edits and proofs.
Transit/Shipping: All cards and calendars are shipped from our Portland, Oregon location, so the time in transit to you will depend on the UPS shipping method you chose at checkout. UPS Ground is the most economical, and generally takes only a few days to California, but can take up to 7 -10 days to reach the East Coast (especially during the holiday season (late November through December). We always recommend choosing at least 3 Day Select shipping if you are placing an order for holiday cards anytime after mid November, and at least 2 Day Air shipping after the first of December. Please note: While our policy is to process your orders in the order that we receive them, we do have a fond place in our heart for excellent excuses and will try to help if you have an emergency! (There may be an additional charge to rush orders received after Thanksgiving.)
How much will shipping cost?
We ship our products with UPS, and charges will depend on your quantity (weight), your distance from Oregon, and the shipping speed you have selected. Once you have your products in the cart, you’ll be able to select different shipping speeds and easily compare costs.
How much is postage for my holiday cards?
All of our greeting cards and 12 Month greeting calendars weigh under 1 ounce and can be mailed with a single USPS First Class Mail postage stamp.
We recommend purchasing “Forever” stamps, so you can always use the extras later. Check current prices on the US Postal Service website and order from USPS.com for convenience and a great selection.
Ordering cool Square Greeting Cards? Those require a bit extra postage too, as they are non-machinable and must be processed with loving care – by hand! (Many wedding invitations fall into this category too.) Check here for current USPS Square cards stamps pricing.
Do you have sample greeting card verses?
Yes, you can see Cardphile’s list of standard greeting card verses here. They are available for you to select using our online card editor during the Personalization session of your order, and you are free to modify them, or write your own unique message.
Can I write my own completely custom greeting or verse?
Absolutely – we encourage you to do so! Whether you are using our online card editor or placing your order by phone, there is never an extra charge for writing your own greeting. You can write as many lines as you like, as long as it fits on the card, and proofs are always included free of charge. Click here for a look at some of the great things our customers have shared with clients and friends. Go ahead, be creative!
Can I have my return address printed on my envelopes?
Of course you can. All orders for cards and calendars automatically include a matching quantity of our premium, blank, white announcement greeting card envelopes (actually, 26 envelopes for every 25 cards) – and you don’t need to do anything else to include them in your order.
However, you can choose to have them printed with your return address for an additional $40/M ($40 per thousand envelopes). Once you’ve finished personalizing your cards or calendar greetings and added them to your shopping cart, just click on the button that you will see in your cart to upgrade or personalize your envelopes. This will take you to our Envelope Selections page, where you’ll be able to select printed envelopes and proceed to edit, proof, and add return addressed envelopes to your cart.
Do you have self-sealing envelopes available?
Absolutely. All orders automatically include our regular, premium white announcement style envelopes, but you can easily upgrade to Self Sealing Envelopes (either Blank or with Return Address Printing) on our Envelopes Selection page.
Bonus: Our spiffy FlapArt™ Designs automatically include the upgrade and are always printed on Self Sealing Envelopes.
Do you have foil lined envelopes?
♻️ With sustainability in mind, we no longer offer foil lined envelopes. Adding a foil layer or liner inside the envelopes renders them non-recyclable, and that just doesn’t feel right to us.
All of our envelopes are 100% recyclable and compatible with a healthy recycling stream. That feels much better 🙂
Will I see a proof before placing my order?
Yes you will! Once you click on the Personalize button for the design you’ve chosen (make sure to choose Card Stock and Quantity first), you’ll see an editing window. Here you can choose from pre-set verses or write your own, then add your name or company name, and see a proof when you are finished. (Just click on the “View Pdf” button at the top of the editing window to download a printable proof to your computer.) When you’re finished, just click “Approved” and your finished product will be added to your cart!
And when you place your order by phone, we will email you a free proof for your review prior to printing your order.
What card stocks do you have available?
Most cards and calendars are available on 5 different card stocks, and all are FSC certified. The Forest Sustainability Council ensures that all of the raw materials used to create the paper are sustainably sourced and documented. Most of our papers contain recycled content whenever possible– if you need a 100% recycled paper, give us a call and we can do that too!
Satin (AEC): This is our 110#, matte finish, bright white card stock. We give it a special satin coating on the card front to further enhance and sharpen the image. Since the inside of this card stock is not coated, it is suitable for hand signing your greetings if you wish.
Uncoated (SMO): Uncoated card stock is not shiny, but rather has a beautiful soft finish, like writing paper, on both sides. This nice heavy card stock is 100# bright white, and a beautiful complement to many of our designs.
Pearlescent (SGP): Ooh…everything just glows on this beautiful, pearlescent, 105# greeting card stock! It makes any design look special, but those with wide ranges of colors, blends and gradients are particularly outstanding.
Silver Metallic (SGS): Just like the Pearlescent (SGP), this silver metallic card stock sets your greeting apart. It actually is a silver color throughout the paper (both inside and out) and colors are deepened when printed on this beautiful, luxe card stock.
WaterColor Texture (ART): Bright white, thick and with a rich water-colory texture, this very special paper begs to be handled. This is a perfect card stock for many of our designs, and super easy to hand sign. It has a beautiful, uncoated (not shiny) textured finish – also perfect for our corporate logo notecards!
